An orange-hued thrill: blooming flowers
An orange-hued thrill: blooming flowers
This evening bag is crafted through mixed media: sculpted vegetable-tanned leather florals, Italian satin, and fine lace from England—layered to create a rich interplay of color and texture.
Rain fell today, the perfect weather for quiet, immersive creation at home. Beyond the design and prototyping stages, I love documenting each finished piece through photography, studying how light moves across its surface, and then reinterpreting it again through watercolor. The dialogue between the artwork and its illustrated form is where the originality of this series begins.
This piece is built from multiple layers of material. The orange flower is hand-shaped from vegetable-tanned leather into a sculptural bloom, placed atop a moss-green Italian satin base. French and British lace envelope the exterior, weaving together earthy tones, white openwork florals, and soft greens. The leather blossom emerges from this landscape of lace like a vibrant flower breaking through the earth—expressing the wearer’s warmth, presence, and spirited elegance at any soirée.
Each material carries its own distinct character. My design philosophy is to let them coexist—luxurious yet quietly refined. Vibrancy needs space to breathe. In this piece, the elements meet, merge, dance, and finally shine together.
